On May, 30th of 2006, an idea came to Dimitri Robles and Jesiel Lucena’s minds. Actually, it was not a revolutionary idea, but was created in order to fill a huge empty space on Brazilian’s media. So that, we started to work very hard on our project: a virtual high quality magazine. And more: totally free.
This idea when “Ultimate Player” (well known magazine in that time) had been canceled, and the readers felt abandoned, without any free-magazine to downloading.
The first challenge was: How to create a trademark? I mean, not any trademark…We needed a young and dynamic trademark, which could caught attention from all kinds of people, from 12 to 35 years old.
After a huge brainstorm with more than 150 names, we finally decided to call it “e-Zone” (A contraction of “electronic-zone”, just like “e-mail”, for instance). Exactly at this moment, our idea had become real, and “e-Zone” was born. A magazine for young people and all subjects they are really interested in: games, movies, internet, music and technology in general.
Since then, e-Zone has been upgraded several times. In the beginning, we had a team of only 4 people working on this project, but now we have 30 people directly involved on e-Zone's development.
At first, our magazine had about 300 downloads in its first edition. Nowadays, the number is over than 5000 downloads per edition, but this number is increasing each day. Each edition published means lots of new visitors and readers.
Some specific issues about MMO and TV’s series, for example, which have gained more space in the media and more demanding from users, earning their own spaces and specialized publishers.
e-Zone had a considering improvement in Edition #6 (September, 2007) when the trademark had some changes, becoming more creative, dynamic and striking as it could been noticed since from the cover . Other areas were changed too, and became more attractive for young people. So in order to celebrate this changes we decided to change our trademark to [e-Zone] .
When the new look of [e-Zone] were shown, we were praised
by many professionals from IT , like “Saber é Bom Demais” blog and very positive comments from Monica Martinez, (Bravo! Magazine).
The recognizing of [e-Zone] has been increasing over time, however we are still focusing on the same goal: information discussed by people who like young subjects, (like the ones written above) for the ones who are truly interested in, always offering a free and high quality alternative, where you can find all sort of interesting topics, join flexibility to dynamism which only internet can offer.
Digital information takes its first steps, and intends to be a huge trendsetter
soon and [e-Zone] is ready to follow this tendency.
